Long Beach, California

I arrived on the beautiful city of LA on Monday and was recieved by my Aunt & Uncle in LAX, LA Airport.
One amusing incident I would like to share with visitors of my blog is that, from where I come from (India), I am often asked where is my Native place of Origin because of my mongoloid features & even asked to pay foreigner fees for tourist attractions, but here on the way to LA, the airport officials seemed surprised that I had an Indian passport and the passengers whom I had conversations with assumed that I was returning home to LA as there are a lot of Asians in California. Asian American make about 10 % of the population of LA with the Majority of them in order of population being Filipino, Korean, Chinese, Vietnamese and Other asians. My cousins told me that there is even an asian rap group based in LA called the " Far East Movement", find below the famous song called" Like a G6", the song is quite popular because I hear it being played in the radio and malls both in the East coast & the west Coast.

USA - my SWOT Analysis

I have been visiting USA for only a few months, I'm not an intellectual or a very good observer but I have been thinking of sharing my observations. I am using the SWOT (Strength, Weakness, Opportunity & Threat) tool that we have used so much in MBA classes in Business Schools.

Chevrolet Corvette Cars

Chevrolet - The Corvette is the first American Sports Car, it was designed by Harvey earl, it may be a 2 door convertible or coupe depending on the car with a V8 engine. The sound of the car was powerful. Most of the car owners were in their 40's to 50's & a new car cost almost $ 50,000. The photos taken below are from the Chevrolet Corvette club Owner's meet at Hooters in Rockville, Maryland .

Washington DC

Some more photos updated.

I am now reading Dan Brown's novel, the Lost symbol and it just turns out that I get a chance to Visit Washington DC, the symbolic buildings made it all the more interesting to read the Novel.

DSCN4060
Washington Memorial is both the world's tallest stone structure and the world's tallest obelisk, standing 555 feet 5⅛ inches & has an area of 16,001 feet. It was designed by Robert Mills & completed in 1884. The Monument is made of Marble, Granite & Sandstone. This is the masonic pyramid referred to in the novel.

The United States Capitol is the meeting place of the US Congress & Senate. Prior to meeting in the Capitol, the US congress & it's predecessors met in Philadelphia . The Capitol covers an area of 16.5 acres & constructed started in 1793. I would like to note down a few facts I read about the Capitol hill that I read about from the "Lost Symbol"
1. Statue of freedom- is a bronze state on top of the Capitol since 1863. The statue depicts a female figure holding a sheathed sword in her right hand and a laurel wreath and shield in her left hand. It height is 19.5 feet tall & 6,000 kg in weight.
2. The Rotunda- It is the central rotunda below the dome. The Rotunda is 96 feet (29 m) in diameter and rises 180 feet 3 inches (54.94 m) to the top. The rotunda was designed to evoke the Pantheon.
3. The Apostheosis of Washington- is a painting on the dome of the Rotunda by Constantino Brumundi. The Painting depicts George Washington becoming a god.

The White house is the official residence of the President of the United States. The building was designed by James Hoban in 1792.The White House is made up of six stories—the Ground Floor, State Floor, Second Floor, and Third Floor, as well as a two-story basement. Some people say that it is called the White house because white paint was applied to the building to mask the burn marks during the burning of Washington in war of 1812 by the British Army.
